Egypt witnessed this morning two earthquakes, as the stations of the Egyptian National Seismological Network of the Institute recorded this Friday morning, approximately 40 km northeast of Dahab in South Sinai Governorate.
Dr. Gad Al-Qadi, head of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research, said in a statement today that the two tremors were of 3.49 degrees and 3.58 degrees on the Richter scale.
He added that the earthquakes occurred east of the city of Dahab in South Sinai Governorate, at a depth of 16.7 km and 16 km, stressing that the residents did not feel them, and the city was not exposed to any effects of the two earthquakes.
It is noteworthy that Egypt has witnessed several earthquakes during the current year, as the Egyptian governorates were subjected to 5 earthquakes of varying strength during the first two months of 2022.
The National Institute for Astronomical Research had denied that Egypt had entered the earthquake belt, after rumors spread about that following a series of earthquakes in recent months.
