The National Police has arrested a man and a woman for allegedly capturing and hiring an irregular migrant to work on his ‘high standing’ farm in Mallorca as a gardener, cleaner and waiter, in 16 -hour days for the They paid 600 euros per month for almost two years.
The police investigation began in December 2024 on the occasion of the complaint filed – and subsequently extended – by the victim’s lawyer, whom the alleged perpetrators of the events would have captured in an irregular situation, with great economic difficulties, transferring it To Mallorca with false promises of training courses, obtaining the driving card and regularization of their legal situation in Spain. In return, they offered to work on their ‘high standing’ farm in an island municipality.
Once on the farm, the couple showed him a ruined shed away from the main house to house him.
The complainant has confessed that he made daily working days from 07.00 until 11 pm, without rest day, and even had to get out of bed at night to watch if noises were heard on the farm. In fact, for this reason I could not leave the house without permission from the owners.
The first month of work only paid 200 euros, the second month paid 400 and, from that moment, they paid the amount of 600 euros until, six months ago the victim complained about working conditions and increased him 100 euros per month, so it happened to receive 700.
Police points out that the victim was working for 21 months in conditions of “semi -schedule”, carrying out gardening, home and waiter cleaning, among other tasks.
As the police force points out, at the time of the complaint the victim contributed to the valuable instruction and numerous information to be able to demonstrate the ruinous state of the place where they housed him. One of the detainees, knowing the victim’s irregular situation, proceeded to register her so that she could obtain the medical card or the transport of transport.
The arrests weigh alleged crimes of trafficking in human beings for labor exploitation, favoring irregular immigration and against the rights of foreign citizens.
