The twentieth stage of the Vuelta is the last chance for riders to create differences in the general classification, because tomorrow the flat final stage to Madrid awaits. Today no fewer than five climbs are on the menu. Follow the developments here from start (12.45 pm) to finish (around 5.30 pm).
The start is in Moralzarzal, northwest of Madrid. The road soon goes uphill and after about twenty kilometers the foot of the first ascent looms: Puerto de Navacerrada (first category). After a mountain of the second and the third category, it is time for the final.
Because less than fifty kilometers from the finish, the Puerto de la Morcuera (first category) starts. This obstacle is more than nine kilometers long and has an average gradient of 6.9 percent. After the descent it is almost immediately time for the last ascent: Puerto de Cotos (first category, 10.3 kilometers at 6.9 percent average). At the top there are about seven relatively flat kilometers to the finish.
