You can also turn a 520i into a super cool BMW 5 Series!
The BMW 5 Series of the G60 generation has been on the market for almost a year now. So we have now gotten used to it. That is a long process for purists, but not really for purchasing customers, because they are enthusiastic about the new Fünfer.
We now have to wait a while for a really sporty version. Yes, there is an i5 M60, but sporty EVs are often very fast, not so much fun. @Wouter recently went for a spin with the 520i on petrol and was not disappointed at all. Especially in Dutch traffic it is a great place to be with 'only' 197 hp.
If you want an optically thicker 5 Series, then we also have good news for you. At Renegade Designs they have developed a body kit to create a mega-thick BMW 5 Series, even if it is a BMW 520i. That's a good thing, because in the Netherlands you can (at least now) only get the 5 Series as a 520i or 520d if you don't want an EV.
Super cool BMW
They have not been modest in their approach Renegade Designs. The kit consists of a new grille, front lip and a completely different hood with many more creases and holes. It looks very intense, which is of course the intention. As a finishing touch, there are carbon air intakes and small openings on the side of the bumper. You didn't know you needed it, but now you want it on your 520i, right?
Then we move on to the mirror covers, which are now also made of carbon. On the side we see side skirts and stick-on things on the side screen. At the rear, the modest spoiler lip is striking, as well as the extremely thick diffuser. Further modifications are the headlights, which now emit yellow light instead of white. Somehow yellow is much more pleasant and reminds us forties of the summer holidays in France of the past.
Not cheap of course
In addition, there are now new rims, which they forge themselves at Renegade Designs. The car also appears to be lower on its stomach. The prices are not cheap. The complete kit (without lowering and wheels) will cost you 10,630 and you get high-gloss plastic.
Carbon starts at 24,551 euros and goes up to 27,895 euros. In terms of wheels, you can go from 20″ (6,016 euros) to 24″ (8,538 euros), that is without tires. We didn't know that 24 inches would fit under a G60, by the way. Then you don't have a tire around it, but just a strip of rubber, we estimate. There is no engine tuning, so you have to take off the 520i badges.
All parts have a 5-year warranty and are TUV approved. The Austrian TUV, of course, but that is also nice. However? If you find this kit from Renegade Designs a bit too flashy, you can turn to AC Schnitzer for subtlety.
