The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has said any country that bought oil or gas to Venezuela will pay a 25% tariff in its trade with the United States.
In a message on the Social Truth Network, Trump says that the “secondary tariff” will enter into force on April 2 and justify the measure ensuring that Venezuela has sent “tens of thousands” of people to the US that have a “very violent nature” in a “intentionally and fraudulent” way.
“Among the bands that have sent to the United States is the Aragua train, which has been designated as ‘foreign terrorist organization’. We are in the process of returning them to Venezuela. It is a huge task!” He adds.
Trump points out that Venezuela “has shown a very hostile attitude towards the United States and freedoms” that, according to the president, represents his country.
Venezuela has denounced on Monday that there is a “witch hunt” against their nationals in the United States, after Trump recently invoked a law of 1789 for which more than 200 migrants were deported to El Salvador accused of allegedly belonging to the criminal organization of Aragua, born in a Venezuelan prison.
“There is a hunt, as said before, witches against Venezuelans, against Venezuelans in general. It begins with the boy who has a tattoo, begins with the brunette boy, begins with the girl who is evidently worker, but that extends,” said the Minister of Communication, Freddy Ñáñez, in a program transmitted on YouTube.
According to Ñáñez, the Chavista administration has testimonies of Venezuelans who, despite being “legally living in the United States”, where – he says – “they have been working for many years”, currently “they do not leave their home” because “they are in a state of terror and panic for persecution”.
This, according to the minister, is a consequence of what he calls a “decree of war that Donald Trump has signed against Venezuela”, in reference to the invocation of the Law of Foreign Enemies, which resulted in “the kidnapping” and the “violation of all the human rights of Venezuelans” that were “sold” to El Salvador “without prior judgment, without the right to defense.”
In his opinion, the Salvadoran president, Nayib Bukele, “is simply an accident of politics” and “a dictator from Central America who, with much marketing ‘(marketing), wanted to position himself as an efficient politician.”
The deportees were imprisoned in gang prisons under the Bukele government, which received about six million dollars from Washington for seclusion for a year. Trump said Friday that they were subjected to a “very rigorous” process to verify that they were part of the criminal megabanda.
In this context, Caracas and Washington resumed repatriation flights, with a first arrival of 199 Venezuelans early Monday at a plane from Honduras, where they had landed from the US, which adds to the 919 citizens who returned to their country on five flights since last February.
