A dentist is on trial in Kiel as a suspected triple murderer. He is said to have fired 48 shots at his wife with a submachine gun. Infidelities and marital problems are discussed in the process.
Kiel – Nine months after a triple murder, a dentist from Westensee must answer since Wednesday in front of the Kiel district court.
At the start of the trial, senior public prosecutor Achim Hackethal accused the 48-year-old of having murdered his wife, her new acquaintance in Dänischenhagen and another man in Kiel on May 19, 2021, insidiously and for base motives. For reasons of space, the criminal court heard for the first time in a large, expanded lightweight hall near the Kiel Fjord.
According to the allegations, the accused wanted to punish his wife for the separation. He also wanted to hold the new man by her side accountable for the relationship with her. He is said to have shot the third man, a mutual acquaintance of the couple, because he had betrayed his infidelities to his wife and was therefore responsible for the failure of the marriage, Hackethal said.
The evening after the crime, the dentist turned himself in to the police in Hamburg and admitted to the crime. Since then he has remained silent on the allegations. However, his defense attorney announced on Wednesday that his client could testify on March 10th. Another defender accused the media of merciless prejudice.
According to the indictment, the accused followed his wife, who lived separately from him, in a rental car on the day of the crime on the way to her new partner. Hackethal said he had installed a GPS transmitter on the woman’s car in advance and planned the crime. In the entrance area of the house, the accused fired 25 shots twice from a submachine gun at a distance of one meter. The victims were saying hello to each other.
The 43-year-old alone was hit 48 times. Hackethal said the defendant shot through her friend’s heart, lungs, liver and kidneys.
The dentist in Kiel is said to have shot a mutual acquaintance of the couple five times in the head with another semi-automatic pistol. The suspect allegedly possessed the guns illegally. The murders drew national attention. The verdict could be announced on March 30th. dpa
