Four people were arrested in flagrante delicto by the Metropolitan Civil Guard during the Virada Cultural, an event that has been taking place since last night (28) in São Paulo.
According to the Civil Guard, the arrests were made in two occurrences recorded in the center of the capital of São Paulo. In the first one, which took place last night (29), three people were arrested in Vale do Anhangabaú, where the main stage in the central region was installed. In the second occurrence, recorded early this morning (29), a man was arrested at Praça Ramos de Azevedo, near the Municipal Theater. Five cell phones were recovered from the prisoners, which have since been returned to the owners.
After two years of a pandemic, the Cultural turn took place again in person in the capital of São Paulo. During the event, several cultural actions are carried out such as musical shows, performances, dances and presentations for a period of 24 hours.
Unlike previous editions – with the exception of the one that took place in 2017 – the city of São Paulo decided this year to decentralize the attractions, leaving few stages scattered around the center of the capital. And it determined that, to enter the Anhangabaú Valley, people had to go through a search.
Even so, there were many reports of trawlers and violence that occurred mainly in the Anhangabaú Valley. On social media, many people said they had been victims of cell phone theft or had witnessed the trawlers. Videos and photos circulate on social media showing people running and trying to escape the confusion.
Because of this, the Civil Guard said it had reinforced policing in the central region of the city for the events scheduled for today.
THE Brazil Agency also contacted the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat to find out about the role of military police officers at the event and about the arrests, but until the publication of this report, there was no response.
