Dead | Morgan Spurlock, known for the movie Super Size Me, has died

American documentary director Morgan Spurlock is dead, several international media reports. Spurlock died of cancer on Thursday, May 23 in upstate New York. He was 53 years old when he died.

Spurlock’s most famous film is Super Size Me (2004). Spurlock documented his own physical and mental state when he ate only McDonald’s food for a month. The film’s title refers to the additional restriction he set for himself, that he should not refuse if a restaurant salesperson offered the opportunity to increase the portion size to a Super Size. He also aimed to move as little as the average American, about 5,000 steps a day.

During his experiment, Spurlock gained more than 11 kilograms and began to experience symptoms of depression. Her energy levels and libido also decreased, and liver symptoms were noted. At 21 days, she developed palpitations, and her doctor advised her to stop the trial. However, he continued until the end.

Later, Spurlock is, however told that he had been drinking alcohol continuously since he was 13 years old, so that in 30 years he had not been able to cope for more than a week at a time. This is it suspected to have affected for example, for the liver symptoms found in the documentary instead of a fast diet.

Spurlock spoke about his alcoholism at the end of 2017, when the Me Too campaign related to the sexual harassment experienced by women began. At that time he acknowledged that he was part of the problem and wondered to what extent heavy drinking had contributed.
