A day of celebrations to celebrate the liberation of Italy from the grip of the Second World War has today turned into a disaster. The community of Castellanza, in the province of Varese, is shocked to learn that their mayor has died following an illness she had suffered during the ceremonies. The tragic death of the mayor, Mirella Cerini, left the community and local politicians incredulous and saddened. Her fifty-year-old, also known for her profession as an architect, felt ill after the celebrations for April 25th.
After participating in the ceremony in the morning he had to deposit the tricolor sash in the town hall. The mayor felt unwell and informed the caretaker of the municipal building that she was going up to the office to drink a hot drink because she wasn't feeling very well. Sadly, that was the last time she was seen alive. A local police officer found her shortly afterwards suffering from an illness, still with her tricolor band wearing it, and immediately called for help.
Despite the rapid transport to the hospital in Busto Arsizio, there was nothing that could be done for Mirella. The news of his sudden disappearance it left everyone shocked and moved. There were numerous messages of condolence from local politicians and the community.
Mirella Cerini was in her second term as first citizen and has been described as an example of “dedication to the common good and passion for the betterment of the community.” Her work and commitment will forever remain in the hearts of those she served. Our deepest condolences go to her family, as the community prepares to mourn the loss of a much loved woman and politician.
The competent authorities will carry out ainvestigation to understand the dynamics of the facts and ascertain that the causes of death were natural. Mirella was 50 years old and no one was aware of any previous pathologies that could make such a sudden end likely.
