A man driving without a license in Mäntsälä ran away in a car when the police questioned the origin of his license.
Heavy a man without a driving license, who was speeding, fled the police first by car and then by running on Saturday morning in Mäntsälä.
The chase started around ten thirty in the morning. At that time, the police patrol measured the speed of a car driving on Nelostie towards Helsinki as 190 km/h. The speed limit at the venue is 120 km/h.
The police was able to stop the car at a bus stop on the Järvenpää side. The driver’s license shown by the driver made the policemen doubt its authenticity, and they asked the driver where the license came from.
Here at one point the driver hit the gas again to start and escape. He left the highway in the direction of the center of Järvenpää, driving in the wrong lane. Two cars met and had to avoid the tow truck.
Director of investigations Krista Vallilan according to the report, the man drove at high speed and caused several dangerous situations. The escape by car ended in a crash, when the car driven by the man collided with the rear corner of a car coming from the direction of Järvenpää. The fugitive’s speed was 90 km/h at the time.
The driver jumped out of the car and ran into the forest. He headed towards the nearby Haarajoki train station.
“He couldn’t be reached from the spot,” says Vallila.
Police soon found out the man’s identity. He had two wanted notices on him at the moment.
On Monday, Vallila did not comment on whether the man had been arrested. He mentioned that the criminal charges are not so heavy that it would have been necessary to pursue the man particularly forcefully.
During the inspection, a disassembled pistol was found in the footwell of the car driver.
The man is suspected of grossly endangering traffic safety, causing injury, driving a vehicle without a license, firearms offense and providing false personal information.
