Anyone who drives drunk or constantly breaks the rules must undergo a medical-psychological examination, or MPU for short. But how do you pass the “idiot test”? The Frankfurt traffic lawyer Uwe Lenhart gives helpful tips.
Mr. Lenhart, around 87,000 people in Germany recently had to go to the MPU. Does that mean we live in a country where many people aren't actually allowed to get behind the wheel?
No, definitely not, because the number of people who have to go to the MPU is extremely small. With a good 57 million driving license holders, that's only 0.16 percent. In this respect, one cannot say that we are a nation of unsuitable road users.
What are the main reasons why people have to prove their ability to drive again?
