Injury for Conway
Less than a week from the first Free Practice sessions of the 24 Hours of Le Mansthe team Toyota Gazoo Racing has officially announced the absence of Mike Conway from the famous French race. The Briton will not be able to participate due to fractures to the ribs and clavicle reported following one fell on a bicycle which took place on Thursday.
Lopez is back
As a result, Conway will not complete the trio of Toyota GR010 HYBRID #7 this year made up of him, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck De Vries, and will therefore not be able to aim for the victory, already achieved in his career in 2021. On that occasion, in addition to the Japanese driver, there was the Argentine Jose Maria Lopezand it will be the latter who takes over from Conway.
Two-time WEC world champion with Toyota and three-time touring car world champion, ‘Pechito’ should have participated in this year’s 24 Hours at the wheel of the Lexus RC F GT3, in the LMGT3 category: “Toyota Gazoo Racing expresses its sincere appreciation to AKKODIS ASP for releasing him from his commitments in LMGT3 – we read in the press release from the team involved in the Hypercar class – Mike will immediately begin an intensive rehabilitation program, under the supervision of the Toyota Gazoo Racing medical staff, with the aim of returning to racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship as soon as possible.”
