84.92% of the students promote in ESO and 85.24% graduate in Baccalaureate in the 2021-22 academic year with the approved evaluation, promotion and degree measures
The results on promotion and qualification of students in Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and Baccalaureate in the Region of Murcia increased during the past year with respect to the previous year. As indicated by the Ministry of Education, in ESO 84.92% of students achieved graduation compared to 83.5% in the 2020-21 academic year, which represents an improvement of 1.42%. An improvement was also achieved in the ESO degree data, since 81.70% of the students obtained the degree, compared to 81.58% last year.
In Baccalaureate, the percentage of students who obtained a title rises to 85.24% compared to 82.44% who did so last year, which implies an improvement of 2.8%. An improvement is also noted in the promotion data for first and second year students, reaching 83.70% of students compared to 81.79% the previous year.
The Minister of Education, María Isabel Campuzano, highlighted that “the decisions on evaluation, promotion and certification that have been adopted in the centers of the Region of Murcia in the 2021-2022 academic year have been based on the contribution made by the Ministry to the innovations introduced by the LOMLOE». In addition, she Campuzano stressed that “these decisions have been based on the recognition of the effort of the students, the consensus reached in the teaching teams and the maintenance of the educational requirement.”
In ESO this course has been automatically promoted with up to two failed subjects. The teaching teams have been able to decide that the students will be promoted when the nature of the subjects not passed allows them to successfully continue the following year and have favorable recovery expectations, for which it has been considered that they have not failed more than three subjects and, especially , that two of these subjects are not simultaneously Spanish Language and Literature and Mathematics.
Regarding the degree in ESO, Campuzano pointed out that “it has been the teaching teams who have had the ability to decide on the promotion and degree of the students, provided that there is an agreement of three quarters of the teaching staff.”
In Baccalaureate, the teaching teams have been able to adopt, by a qualified majority of four fifths, the decision to graduate students with a subject with negative evaluation, as long as it is considered that the students have achieved the objectives and skills of the stage, which had been presented to the tests and have carried out the necessary activities for their evaluation and, finally, that the arithmetic mean of the grades obtained in the stage are equal to or greater than five.
The Minister of Education thanked “the great work done by teachers in a school year that has been marked by the lack of planning and the improvisation shown by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, which modified the conditions of evaluation, promotion and qualification once the course begins in November.
«The decisions adopted in the Region of Murcia, based on the encouragement of the effort of the students, in respect for their study habits, in the educational requirement, as well as in the capacity of the teaching teams to reach broad majorities in decisions that benefit students have been effective in improving academic results”, concluded the head of Education.
