Spain.- This Sunday it was revealed that the former president of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto currently live Valdelagua, a exclusive urbanized area in Madrid, Spain which is characterized by being a totally private area and with a strict security control 24 hours a day.
This was stated by the newspaper El País, which mentioned that the former PRI president requested the residence permit, which was granted in 2020. This permit is known as “Golden visa or golden visa”.
As detailed in the newspaper, this visa is granted only to investors who allocate at least one million euros to business activities or the acquisition of real estate of at least 500 thousand euros, about 10.5 million pesos.
The newspaper specified that Peña Nieto bought a 105-square-meter business premises with an interior terrace in an exclusive building in the Madrid neighborhood of Chamberí, according to data obtained from the property registry.
The country clarified that the Mexican president of the 2012-2018 six-year term does not live in this last property that he acquired, but in Valdelagua, an exclusive urbanized area located 30 kilometers from the Spanish capital.
In this place, Peña Nieto is a neighbor of actors such as Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Roció Carrasco, among other famous Spaniards.
The property where Peña Nieto lives is a construction called a chalet which is built on a plot of 2,500 square meters, its architecture is two floors and a basement and it also has a garage and a cellar.

As mentioned in the journalistic investigation, the chalet does not belong to Peña Nieto, but to a construction company that acquired it through a mortgage at a value of 889,500 euros, which in Mexican pesos would be just over 18 million.
