The Japanese company focused on bathroom products Science has developed a smart bathtub model that it refers to as a human washing machine of the future that, with a shape similar to a cabin, offers users a personalized bathing experience, measuring their heart rate and adjusting the water temperature.
This ‘human washing machine’ project is based on the previous ‘Ultra Sonic Bus’ bathtub model, developed by the company Sanyo Electric (currently Panasonic Holdigs Corp.) and exhibited in 1970 during the Osaka World Fair (Japan).
Now, from the technological Science they have developed a “modern and futuristic” version, which offers intelligent functions to measure the heart rate of users and their reactions. Based on this, the bathtub is capable of Adjust the washing experience according to your needs and tastes.
As explained by Science in a statement on its website, the objective of this ‘human washing machine of the future’ (‘Mirai Ningen Sentakuki’) is create an “optimal bathroom” environmentwith a system that not only cleanses the body, but also “provides a visual image of the mental and physical state during bathing.”

Specifically, the design of this bathtub is based on a cabin with a reclining seat on which the user can lie down, also including a transparent roof or cover which works as an entrance door to the bathtub.
The bathtub is partially filled with water when the user sits down, and sensors built into the seat measure heart rate and other biological factors to adjust things like temperature and water flow.
Likewise, through an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system, the bathtub uses the measured values obtained to project images adapted to the user’s needs on the bathtub cover. In this way, it is able to detect whether the user is calm or more nervous and project images focused on their moods to achieve a more pleasant experience.
In addition to all this, Science has also implemented some improvements in the washing method, such as its fine bubble technology, which allows the body to be gently cleaned. All of this, in a washing and drying process that lasts 15 minutes.
“Those who experience the human washing machine of the future with their entire body will feel healed and rejuvenated both mentally and physically after bathing,” the manufacturer added.
