In the cinema, the director’s chair generally has only one seat. There are, however, notable exceptions, such as those involving the coen brothers and the Taviani or the Wachowski sisters. In Spain, Fernando and David Trueba have collaborated on several films, but they have never shared the direction. However, the creators of Moriarti Produkzioak They have set out to put an end to the fallacy that directing is a verb that, in Spanish, must be conjugated in the singular.
In 2002, Asier Acha, Xabier Berzosa, Jorge Gil, Jon Garaño, José María Goenaga and Aitor Arregi They founded the Moriarti production company. Five years later, they released their first feature film, the documentary Pikeabout the Basque anarchist Lucio Urtubia. His great debut, directed by Arregi and Goenaga, was nominated for a Goya, and inaugurated a career that would continue Loreak and Handiain the latter case, signed by Garaño and Arregi and which won ten big heads.
The definitive recognition would come with The infinite trenchstarring Antonio de la Torre and directed by Garaño, Arregi and Goenaga. This has been the alignment that has been repeated behind the cameras of Frame (plus a script in which Gil has also participated). As already happened in Handia and The infinite trenchthe Moriarti adapt a true story, which will reach theaters in Spain next October 25.
Long before, Frame has had its official premiere in the Venice Festival. Specifically, in the Orizzonti section, where last year the Hungarian Gábor Reisz won with the film An explanation for everyoneeither.
‘Marco’: Synopsis
The readers of The imposterby the novelist and flamboyant academic Javier Cercasyou have already heard the name of Enric Marco Batlle. What’s more, the qualification “based on real events” may be unfair if the biography we are referring to is Marco’s. This Barcelonan born in 1921 gained some relevance thanks to the talks he gave for years, in which he narrated his experiences in a Nazi concentration camp.
However, some journalists began to contrast Marco’s alleged experiences and found contradictions. So many that, when the time came, the heroic survivor had to admit that everything was a lie with which to make ends meet, very comfortably.
‘Marco’: Cast
Only one actor surpasses Eduard Fernandez in number of Goya awards, Javier Bardem. The protagonist of out to sea won with The good boss his last Goya, the sixth in his collection. Exactly double what Fernández has, although that distance can be shortened depending on his fortune (and competition) with Frame. Next to him, they will be Nathalie Poza (winner of two Goya for Rosa’s wedding and I don’t know how to say goodbye), Daniela Brown (The Abbess) and Chani Martín (little faith).
