The month of October is each season one of the most special for the Spanish Royal Family. Although on October 12, both the Kings of Spain and Doña Leonor presided over the event celebrating the Columbus daynext Friday, October 25, they once again have one of the most relevant appointments on their agenda, the Princess of Asturias Awards, which this year are even more important, especially for the heir to the throne. This 2024 is fulfilled a decade since the eldest daughter of monarchs was named honorary president of the Princess of Asturias Foundation and will be the great protagonist. In fact, he will begin his activities before his parents and sister.
On Thursday the 24th at noon, the young woman, who comes this season when she is of legal age, will receive the title of Honorary Mayor of Oviedo at the city hall, where he is expected to go unaccompanied. Afterwards, the Princess will receive the Medal of Asturias at the University of Oviedo in an event in which she will say a few words. And at the end of that afternoon, like every year, her family will join her to attend the traditional concert at the Príncipe Felipe Auditorium. The next day, Queen Sofía will accompany them and everything will happen the same as other previous days.
However, although it has been 10 years since this milestone, both Doña Leonor and Infanta Sofía remained in the background at this event until 2019. That year, the Princess offered his first speech and he did it in a very calm, although somewhat nervous manner, as is logical. He debuted at the event with 13 yearsat the same age as his father, and for the occasion he wore a short blue brocade tweed dresswith a round neck, marked waist and full skirt. She paired it with gold ballet flats and wore her blonde hair loose with light waves. Her little sister also chose a tweed model, but in her case with a straight cut and in a light shade that she also completed with silver ballet flats.
In the next edition, which was marked by the pandemic, the heiress completely changed her style and wore a dress with beaded bodice and silk skirt in beige with a cut slightly below the knee. In addition, she added nude pointed-toe and low-heeled heels and wore her hair straight. Quite different from her was the Infanta, who chose a green design that simulated a two-piece composed of a voluminous tulle skirt and a bodice with polka dots and elbow-length sleeves. She wore a side braid and matching flat ballet flats.
The year 2021 was one of the best for the Princess stylistically speaking. Very appropriate for her age and the type of event, the first-born of the Spanish monarchs wore a short dress with a geometric print and a very flattering mini ruffle at the bottom. The design, with slightly puffed short sleeves, belonged to the Galician firm Bgo & Medemonstrating, like her mother, that she is faithful to ‘made in Spain’ fashion. It had a price of almost 600 euros and it was finished at the back with a black velvet bow that she left visible, gathering her hair in a tight ponytail. Additionally, she added black high heels.
Infanta Sofía, for her part, also nailed her look, something usual for her. Modern and youthful, she opted for a short-sleeved black t-shirt decorated with rhinestones in the neck and sleeves area and a beautiful pink tulle skirt that was long to the feet. Psophiawhich is also present in Queen Letizia’s closet. She wore black ballet flats with a strap in the instep area and in the purest ballerina style she tied her hair up in a low messy bun.
In 2022, Doña Leonor dressed in a very flattering tropical print dress from Michael Kors. It was a two-tone black and white model, short and with a straight silhouette. For her hair, she wore an original braided updo and added black slingback heels. The youngest daughter of the Kings chose a design full of sequins in an ideal navy blue color, with gathering in the front area and long sleeves. The English Court. In addition, she wore low heels and wore a ponytail with loose strands.
And last year the sisters gave a real lesson in style. The oldest, with a navy blue dress that achieved a two-piece visual effect consisting of a short-sleeved tweed bodice and a pretty voluminous chiffon skirt. But the most special detail, the peplum that started from her waist in the central area. I signed it Moisés Nieto and combined it with matching Mascaró shoes. Likewise, her white gold, diamond and Sky Blue topaz earrings that she also wore the previous year caught attention. Her makeup, natural and marking her features.
The Infanta wore a more risky model. It was a midi dress with a strapless neckline and ‘cut out’ in the abdomen area in black to which she added a contrasting white asymmetrical body and sleeveless. Signed by the Sevillian house Cardiéwhich she has already worn on more than one occasion, she finished it off with flat shoes and left her hair straight with a semi-updo.
This 2024, the 44th edition of the Princess of Asturias Awardswhich reward Joan Manuel Serrat or Carolina Marín, among others, and surely the women of Spanish royalty leave us outfits to remember.
