Youssef R., who allegedly committed the assault along with other men, faces seven years and ten months in prison
The Provincial Court plans to try this Wednesday a man accused of beating a neighbor of Jumilla to steal a gold chain. The prosecutor demands that Youssef R. be sentenced to a total of seven years and ten months in prison for alleged crimes of attempted robbery with violence and injuries.
The alleged attack occurred in the early hours of January 10, 2019 when the suspect was with other men in the Plaza del Rollo, in Jumilla, near a bar. The prosecutor, in his provisional conclusions, explains that the defendant acted with other people who have either not been identified or have already been expelled from the country. At one point a neighbor passed by the area and the group went to him, trying to grab a gold chain he was wearing. Given the victim’s resistance, the Public Ministry maintains, they punched him in the face that threw him to the ground, where they continued to kick and punch him. The suspect allegedly stepped on his head.
lost three teeth
Before the arrival of the Local Police, the assailants fled, only two of them being arrested. The victim, according to the prosecutor, suffered various injuries, including loss of teeth. The Public Ministry demands, in addition to the prison sentence, that a prohibition of communication and approach to the victim be imposed, which, in addition, asks that he be compensated 8,732 euros for the damages and consequences.
