It was circulating erratically, zigzagging in the right lane and invading the shoulder illegally
The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia investigated the driver of a large-tonnage articulated truck, which was detected circulating erratically on the A-7, at the height of the municipality of Murcia. Proceedings have been instructed on the trucker as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety, for exceeding the maximum rate of alcohol up to five times.
The events took place on the Mediterranean highway A-7, near the Nueva Condomina shopping center, where civil guards from the Traffic Group, while carrying out a road safety surveillance service, detected a large-tonnage articulated truck he was driving erratically and zigzagging in the right lane and invading the shoulder illegally, with the consequent danger that he represented for himself and for other users.
Using special signals from the official vehicle (luminous and acoustic), the patrol of the Benemérita Traffic Sector took the large-tonnage vehicle to a safe place off the highway platform, mainly in order to avoid a road accident.
When the civil guards interviewed the trucker, to clarify the reason for his negligent driving, they detected a strong odor of alcohol, so they carried out tests to detect alcohol intake, in which he gave a positive result of 0, 79 and 0.81 milligrams of alcohol per liter of expired air, in two regulatory tests that were carried out, exceeding by more than five times the maximum rate allowed, which in the case of professional drivers is 0.15 mg/liter.
The driver of the heavy vehicle, who came from Orihuela bound for Seville, was investigated and proceedings were instructed as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety, for driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages, being placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court of Murcia, together with the proceedings instructed, for the celebration of the corresponding trial for the procedure of rapid prosecution of certain crimes, taking charge of the vehicle another authorized driver of the company that owns the truck.
More than 2,500 drivers controlled this weekend
During the past weekend and in the different alcohol and drug verification devices deployed, the civil guards of the Traffic Sector of the Region of Murcia have controlled a total of 2,650 drivers, of which 43 gave positive results in alcohol ( 1.62%). Among these, ten drivers have been arrested for doing so under the influence of alcohol, who have been brought to justice, and the rest have been reported for administrative offenses (alcoholemia) before the Murcia Provincial Traffic Headquarters. Likewise, 39 drivers have been denounced for circulating having consumed drugs or other prohibited narcotic substances.
