The Bolide and Meteorite Research Network (SPMN) of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) has detected an “artificial bolide” flying over Catalonia and the Valencian Community from France around 10:59 p.m. on Friday. From their social networks they have indicated that according to the first investigations it is a ballistic missile that would have flown over the east of the peninsula.
Collaborators of the network have shared videos in which an object is observed, which, after leaving France, “flew over Girona and Barcelona to enter the Balearic Sea and finish its journey to the South of the Valencian Community,” they have reported in a publication in X collected by Europa Press.
“Studying it from the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC) to find out its origin, we opted for a ballistic missile,” the message adds.
Users on Twitter have pointed out that the object has flown over Girona, Barcelona and Castellón. «Impressive flashes as bright as the moon that this meteoric car had with its radiance in the constellation of Leo. Its final section suggests that it disintegrated without leaving a trace,” they have pointed out on the same social network.
