Daniel John Valtier, 56, was arrested this Monday around Shakira's home in Miami accused of harassing the singer. The man claimed through social networks that he was married to the Colombian woman and that they had both started a family. In addition, he sent packages to his home containing bottles of wine, chocolates and even toys for his children, Milan and Sasha. He carried them out periodically from the end of December 2023 and the beginning of 2024.
The detainee resides in Texas but had traveled to the district of Florida by taxi with the intention of seeing the singer. His team, upon realizing the situation, would have notified the authorities, who carried out the arrest practically at the doors of the home and without having any type of contact with those around them. The singer's legal representatives had already taken action on the matter after the publications on networks and sent several letters to Daniel to stop his efforts, but he ignored them. Now, he faces a crime of harassment.
Shakira headed to Miami with the intention of having a calmer life and away from the media hurricane caused by her separation from soccer player Gerard Piqué. And, for now, she is settled with her two children in the mansion that she acquired in 2001, although she has known her desire to change residence on several occasions. Something that can precipitate after this incident. The artist also no longer has accounts with the Spanish justice system after reaching an agreement in the trial for fraud against the Treasury.
Previously, Shakira faced a similar situation when she lived in Barcelona. A man left letters in her mailbox at her house that she shared with Piqué and painted on the facade of the house. She is not the first artist to face this situation; Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Anniston have previously reported these crimes.
