In the early morning of today, Nintendo shared two very important announcements that fans have been waiting to hear. The first of these is confirmation of when we’ll get our first look at the Switch 2, and the second is the reveal that A new Nintendo Direct will take place next June, which will be focused entirely on software for the current Switch model.
Through its official Twitter account, Nintendo confirmed that at some point next June one of its now classic digital presentations will take place, which will be completely focused on the games that will come to the Switch during the second half of the year. This is what Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo, commented on the matter:
“This is Furukawa, president of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to the Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It’s been over nine years since we announced the existence of the Nintendo Switch in March 2015. This June we’ll be holding a Nintendo Direct regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the second half of 2024, but please note that there won’t be any mention of the successor to Nintendo Switch during that presentation.”

The Big N message makes it clear that we won’t get a look at the successor to the Nintendo Switch during this presentation, although this is expected to happen at some point in the current fiscal year. Similarly, no specific date has been confirmed for the next Nintendo Directalthough the possibility of this digital event taking place in the first two weeks of next month is not ruled out.
Let’s remember that during the first two weeks of June, presentations such as the Summer Game Fest and Ubisoft Forward will take place. Now, considering this is the last year of the Switchit is likely that during the next Nintendo Direct we will finally get a new look at Metroid Prime 4, as well as some of the latest exclusives that this console will have.

I’m excited to see what comes to the Switch in its final year. Rumors over the years have mentioned that a new Donkey Kong would be in development, so this would finally become a reality during the next Nintendo Direct. This could very well be a great closing for the company.
