Precipitation in the form of sleet is expected in Moscow over the weekend, and therefore icy conditions are possible. Along with this, slight warming will come to the capital, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonovosti news agency, told Izvestia on February 16.
According to her, on Saturday, February 17, a warmer cyclone will come to the capital, due to which the temperature during the day will rise to -2… -4 degrees, and at night it will drop to -6… -8. Snow and sleet in places are also expected this day. Because of this, ice is possible at night. The wind will increase again, up to 5–10 m/s.
“On Sunday, February 18, cloudy weather is expected, with occasional precipitation in the form of snow and sleet predicted. The air temperature during the day will be –1…–3 degrees. Thus, the air temperature on Saturday will approach the climate norm, and on Sunday it will be three degrees higher,” Pozdnyakova said.
At the same time, she noted that this wave of relatively warm weather will occur only on Saturday and Sunday. From Monday the frosts will begin to intensify again.
On February 14, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, said that about 25% of the monthly precipitation would fall in Moscow on February 15 and 16.
