The war continues but the MTV EMAs are back: everything about the European music awards

Everything is ready for the MTV Europe Music Awards gala to be held on Sunday night at the Co-op Live pavilion in Manchester (United Kingdom). This is the 30th edition of these awards organized by the legendary music television network.

After the cancellation of last year’s edition due to the Gaza massacre, which was to be held in Paris, the EMA ceremony makes a jump to the United Kingdom and will take place in Manchester. It will be presented by the British singer, actress, songwriter and model of Kosovo Albanian origin Rita Ora, who will repeat a new year, completing three galas as host of the event.

The artist had previously presented in London in 2017 and in Düsseldorf in 2022, the last edition held. This is a unique case in the history of these awards. Ora’s latest work, You & Ifrom 2023, reached first place on the British Official Independent Albums Chart in just a few hours.

Without a doubt, the song produced by Fatboy Slim and called Praising Youwhich managed to position itself as number one on Billboard’s US Dance Radio and Dance Radio/Mixshow Chart charts for five consecutive weeks. The song has 76 million views on Spotify, followed by You only love me, which has 67.5 million reproductions. Although both songs are far from their greatest audience success, Let you love me, with more than 540 million views.

What time will the MTV EMA 2024 gala be?

In the live performances section, it is worth counting on stars with a long career such as Pet Shop Boys – who will premiere the newly created MTV EMA Pop Pioneers category as historic first winners – and the rapper Busta Rhymes, who will offer a repertoire with which not only will perform his biggest hits – like Don’t Cha either I know what you want– but will also be honored with the Global Icon Award.

Among the emerging artists who will participate, it is worth highlighting the young Mexican composer of corridos tumbados Peso Pluma. Also performing alongside him will be the South African Tyla, the South Korean K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM, the American singer-songwriter Benson Boone, the Anglo-Ganese singer RAYE, the Canadian Shawn Mendes, the R&B star Teddy Swims and the Mexican rockers The Warning.

The event will take place at the Co-op Live pavilion in Manchester and will begin at 9pm on Sunday 10 November, lasting for three hours of performances and awards presentations until approximately midnight.
