The successful series “The walking dead”, created by robert kirkman, is ready to close its story, after 11 seasons and 12 years on the air. For their part, fans couldn’t be more excited for the premiere of its 24th episode, titled “Rest In Peace.”
What more than one did not know is that the drama of the post-apocalyptic world had moved behind the scenes. The news of the showrunner suing AMC for 200 million dollars surprised the fandom and here we tell you what really happened.
“Although AMC exploited plaintiffs’ ideas and services to make billions from the franchise, it issued a definition of MAGR [Ingresos brutos ajustados modificados] that, in its original form, it would not have paid a single dollar in profit-sharing to the plaintiffs,” an excerpt of the document reads.
Likewise, “AMC’s definition of MAGR has sparked a storm of disputes with the creative talent of ‘The Walking Dead’ that ultimately resulted in litigation,” emphasizes the plaintiff group.
Another important mention was the preferential treatment to former showrunner Frank Darabont who does collect royalties unlike them: “The plaintiffs are entitled to the same treatment granted to Darabont with respect to their MAGR interests. Therefore, they are entitled to have the same valuation applied to their interests which, collectively, outweigh those of Darabont.”
When does chapter 24 of “The Walking Dead” come out?
Chapter 24, entitled “Rest in peace”, is scheduled to premiere on November 20, 2022.
