USA suspended the issuance of passports with the gender ‘X’ for people who identify as non-binary, following a decree by President Donald Trump during his first day in office, his administration reported.

Consequently, the processing of passport applications with that mention was suspended, the person in charge said on Friday.
“Guidelines regarding previously issued passports with mention of sex X will be announced” and will be published on the State Department website, he added.
After his inauguration last Monday, Trump signed a decree according to which his administration recognizes the existence of only two genders defined at birth.

The decree, which provides for “restoring biological truth,” also stipulates that “federal funds should not be used to promote gender ideology.”
Among the measures is eliminating the ‘X’ gender for people who are recognized as non-binary “in official government documents, including passports and visas (which) will faithfully reflect the sex” at birth, said an official from the new government.
The first passport with gender X was issued in 2021
The possibility of documents with gender X being issued was authorized during the administration of Democrat Joe Biden.
