Therefore, to prevent people from going with third parties and putting their integrity at risk, the United States Embassy in Mexico has shared various warnings to reduce the waiting time for the visa appointment.
On more than one occasion, the diplomatic headquarters has issued information to prevent and avoid “coyotes”, as well as any fraud that is related to any immigration procedure, such as the dissemination of false information on social networks.
Recently, consular authorities have asked visa applicants to remain very alert and not fall for these types of scams.
“No one can advance your appointment or guarantee you a time or date to obtain it. “Do not be fooled by coyotes or scammers who only want your money,” the United States Embassy shared through social networks.
In fact, consular officials have reported several scammers who have even posed as lawyers to gain the trust of applicants.
“Some even promise appointments through the CBP One in just 24 hours. They often share false testimonials of supposed success stories to gain your trust and then scam you,” the publication notes.
The United States General Services Administration (GSA), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), offer some recommendations through their official website to prevent fraud from continuing to increase.
- When you consult information, you should only enter the official sites of the United States Government, such as the United States Embassy and Consulates in Mexico, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or at the Department of State
- Make extra copies of the documents you give and receive from the United States government, store them well
- Save all receipts you get from USCIS
- Do not go to a notary, accountant or consultant to ask for legal or immigration help
- Do not sign blank immigration forms or with false information about yourself
- Do not make payments for immigration forms
