White House press secretary Jen Psaki assessed the possible transfer of Soviet combat aircraft to Ukraine. Her words convey TASS.
Psaki said that Washington would not object to Poland’s decision to transfer the planes, and the US authorities are actively discussing this issue with NATO allies. “This is a sovereign decision that Poland will make,” the White House spokeswoman said.
She stressed that there are “a number of practical difficulties” in transporting aircraft to Ukraine. “Will they fly over there? Where will they fly from? Where will they land? These are all very important issues,” Psaki said. The spokeswoman clarified that if the planes take off from the NATO air base in Poland, then this could lead to circumstances that “create a threat.”
Earlier it became known that the border guard of Poland announced the arrival in the country of more than 800 thousand refugees from Ukraine. The government, meanwhile, began seizing real estate owned by Russia.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation to protect Donbass. Most Western countries have responded to Russia’s actions in Ukraine with harsh sanctions.
