The Union of Journalists of Russia stood up for freedom of speech and called for the lifting of sanctions against the media. The SZHR called them unacceptable and urged not to introduce restrictions against their employees. This is reported on site organizations.
It is noted that recently there has been information about the pressure to which the Russian media are subjected in some European countries, which directly violates the principle of freedom of information dissemination.
As an example, the Union of Journalists cites the obstruction of the broadcasting of TV channels, in particular RT, in Poland, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Germany, as well as the termination of broadcasts in Finland. In addition, the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LKRTV) imposed a ban on the rebroadcasting of six TV channels in Russian in the country for a period of three to five years.
The organization said that for the first time in history, the sanctions affected journalists personally, and TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov fell under them.
“Freedom of speech implies access to different points of view and the right of the reader, viewer and listener to choose one or another source of information. The Union of Journalists of Russia consistently stands up for the observance of the principles of freedom of speech and freedom of dissemination of information and against restrictions on the work of the media, wherever their activities are carried out, ”the statement says.
Earlier, the Union of Journalists of Russia (UJR) opposed censorship of Russian media in social networks. A statement was published in which representatives of the association called sanctions against Russian journalists and media unacceptable.
