Chivas de Guadalajara continues to look for signings and moving players who are not part of the plans for the Clausura 2024 tournament. Among these players who apparently have no place in the squad is the forward, Santiago Ormeño.
Ormeño arrived at the Sacred Flock a couple of seasons ago along with great controversy. The birth of the attacker, outside the Mexican Republic, provoked the fans and the press since the institution has always played with “pure Mexicans.” However, Santiago is nationalized and technically, it complied with that Chivas rule.
Later, despite all the noise that was made with his arrival, the former Puebla player did not comply. He alone has played 14 games for the rojiblanco club and scored one goal. This resulted in him being loaned to Bravos de Juárez for the 2023 Apertura, but now the border team doesn't want him either.
Bravos did not make Ormeño's purchase option valid. Therefore, the forward is now returning to Verde Valle to appear with the squad. However, Fernando Hierro and Fernando Gago would not have considered it and therefore, his future in football is uncertain.
According to Transfermarkt, the letter from the former Club León player has a value of 700 thousand euros. With the winter market open, and without information on his current contract, it is most likely that he will be sold to generate profits to bring in more players.
So far, there are no rumors about which team might be interested in him. And thus, the one who was selected with Peru will become one of the most controversial signings and with the lowest performance in the history of Chivas.
