Elina Svitolina seeks to help and bring joy to her country. She this Friday she faces Camila Osorio.

Elina Svitolina, born 27 years ago in Ukraine, is the best tennis player in that country. Located at number 15 in the WTA ranking, Svitolina is highly affected by the war with Russia. Away from her family and her friends, she announced that she will donate the prize money she gets during her next tournaments to help the Ukrainian victims.

Svitolina, winner of 16 individual trophies, and wife of French tennis player Gael Monfils, published a few days ago words of comfort and support for her compatriots from her Twitter social network account. The player, 3rd in the world in 2017, said she could not be in her country due to the war and she celebrated the “courage” and “strength” of Ukrainians at this time.

The outstanding tennis player announced that in the coming weeks she will donate the money she wins in the tournaments in which she will participate, in order to contribute to the armed defense efforts and the humanitarian needs of Ukraine and its population.

“You are in all my thoughts and prayers. They are always with me. I am from Ukraine. You are Ukraine. Elina Svitolina, a proud Ukrainian”he concluded in his message.

Now, in the quarterfinals of the ATP in Monterrey, Svitolina will face the Colombian Camila Osorio. The game is scheduled to take place around 8:00 pm, Colombian time. The game can be seen on ‘Star+’.
