Like other companies, Nintendo has shared its report related to sales during the second quarter of the current fiscal year. Although the switch it continues to sell quite well, in this period there was a decrease compared to what was seen in 2021, therefore the total expectations have been reduced.
According to Nintendo, between August and October 2022, 6.68 million Switches were sold, 2.23 correspond to the original model, 3.53 to the Switch OLED, and 0.92 to the Lite. This represents a decrease of 19.2% compared to what was seen in the same period of 2021, where 8.28 million units were sold. In total, there is talk of 114.33 million consoles since its launch.
The Big N has mentioned that this was a result of shortages in supplies of semiconductors and other components. Consequently, annual sales expectations have been reduced by two million, and now the Switch is expected to sell 19 million consoles in total during the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2023.
Along with this, information related to the sales of the games that hit the market during this period was shared. Splatoon 3 sold 7.90 million units. Nintendo Switch Sports reached 6.15 million. Kirby and the Forgotten Land it already has 5.27 million. Mario Strikers: Battle League exceeded 2.17 million. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 it sold 1.72 million units. In total, 95.41 million software units have been sold in the second quarter, an increase of 1.6%.
On related topics, the Switch barely beats the Xbox One in this region. Similarly, Nintendo apologizes for Bayonetta.
Editor’s note:
It may not have been Nintendo’s most successful period, but the numbers were positive, especially those related to software. It’s amazing to see that Splatoon 3 managed to sell almost eight million units in just over a month. It’s only a matter of time before this title breaks into the top 10 list.
