The Court of Instruction number 19 of Madrid has suspended the appearance of the intern from the show Nacho Cano‘Malinche’, scheduled for this Monday, October 28, at 10:00 a.m., when attending the summons without lawyer.
“The statement has been suspended because at this time he has appeared in this summons without a lawyer, when he had been required to appoint a lawyer and attorney last week,” said Nacho Cano’s lawyer, José Luis González Montes, in statements to the media at the doors of the Plaza de Castilla courts.
Likewise, Nacho Cano’s lawyer has advanced that he has been granted a new statement on November 14. “He made us come here again today, he has requested the suspension of the statement to appoint a lawyer, we have opposed this suspension of the statement, but his honor has granted it for the moment and we will have a new statement on November 14” , he pointed out.
For her part, the complainant, Lesly Guadalupe Ochoa, has said that she is looking for a “trusted” lawyer to “be able to have the same rights” and has ruled out asking for one ex officio. Precisely, the intern’s lawyer renounced defending the Mexican by alleging discrepancies with his client in the line of defense. “My lawyer resigned, she would have her reasons, the truth is, I didn’t have any problem with her,” he stated in statements to the media outside the Plaza de Castilla courts.
Regarding the lack of “support” from his colleagues in the musical, Ochoa highlighted that “perhaps” they are “a little manipulated” for the people who brought them to Spain. «I think that like them I was excited. The life of an artist is very sacrificial and sometimes we have to sacrifice ourselves, put up with conditions or treatment to be able to continue with our work, achieve our dreams, you know? I think being here was an illusion for everyone, it just ended in a different way with me by their decision,” he explained.
In this sense, he added that in the musical they offered him 3,000 euros and a return ticket to Mexico to give up the scholarship. «These people deprived me of my freedom for a time in the hostel. They lasted for hours, but hey, they left me locked in the hostel for a few hours, I have the evidence. So I presented it to the Police. That is why all this research is being carried out because it is not just the issue of immigration,” he indicated.
Regarding his current situation, Ochoa has stated that his asylum permit is “pending”, but that he is currently working.
Nacho Cano was arrested on July 9 as the alleged perpetrator of crimes against the rights of foreign citizens and against the rights of workers.
