The spokeswoman for the Popular Party of the Region and deputy in the Assembly, Miriam Guardiola, has an appointment on December 13 at the Investigating Court number 3 of Molina de Segura, which has called her to testify as an investigator for an alleged crime of libel and slander against the mayor, the socialist Eliseo García Cantó.
This is reflected in a recent order issued by the magistrate judge Christine Hernández, who processes the proceedings initiated after the complaint filed by the councilor before the National Police.
Specifically, Eliseo García Cantó considers that Miriam Guardiola hurled insults and slander at him at a press conference that the spokeswoman offered at the regional headquarters of the PP on May 31, where she assessed the information published by LA VERDAD that revealed that the mayor he had written a letter to businessmen and merchants in the municipality asking them to advertise in a newly created local media outlet.
In said press conference, according to the complaint filed by Eliseo García Cantó, the popular spokeswoman accused him of “committing crimes”, such as taking advantage of his public position to ask businessmen for money and finance a related newspaper, as well as carrying out ” mafia practices typical of the banana republic.
