A plaque for Mango. The fans of Sampdoria Club Women wanted to meet and pay homage to the former coach of the Blucerchiati women's team. After last season's salvation, this year Mango achieved 24 points (in 21 games) which effectively allowed Samp Women to reach the mathematical goal of staying in Serie A with 4 days to spare, a feat considered almost impossible last summer which rewards the work of the head of the women's sector Marco Palmieri, of the players and of the coach himself.
Salvatore Mango was unexpectedly sacked by the club on 4 April, a choice motivated by the desire to “pursue new strategic plans”. On Sunday at Sciorba, Gian Felice Rossi made his debut on the bench in his place, promoted from Primavera, who lost 1-3 on his debut against Milan. But the defeat proved to be painless given that the draw between Napoli and Pomigliano allowed captain Tarenzi and his teammates to celebrate salvation.
But the fans of Sampdoria Club Women, the first born to follow the Blucerchiate, also wanted to celebrate Mango for the work done, which began with the salvation in May 2023 and continued in a season that began uphill, with the risk of not participating to Serie A. “To mister Salvatore Mango – the message written on the plaque given to the coach – with affection from all the fans, to thank him for the work done, as a sign of infinite esteem and trust”.
