Russia and the United States have prepared a joint draft resolution of the UN General Assembly, which states the need to prevent the use of information resources and technologies for criminal and terrorist purposes. This became known on Tuesday, October 19.

The authors of the resolution recalled that some states are developing the capabilities of information and communication technologies (ICT) for military purposes and that “the use of ICT in future conflicts between states is becoming more likely.”
The project proposes “voluntary, non-binding norms of responsible state behavior” that can reduce risks to international peace, security and stability.
The UN noted that additional regulations could be developed over time.
On October 6, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted the pragmatic approach of the new US administration in the dialogue on strategic stability. It was also noted that Russia and the United States managed to jointly come to some important and constructive decisions.
