There are no prerequisites for the current frequency and power of magnetic storms in the coming years, said Anatoly Petrukovich, director of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, on April 10, speaking at a press conference at the Izvestia International Research Center dedicated to Cosmonautics Day.
“We live in the era of solar maximum. 2023, 2024, 20255 are the era of solar maximum, and this happens once every 11 years approximately. But this solar maximum is different from the solar maximum, and now we are observing approximately 300 years of solar activity cycle. There are low cycles, as we say, with low activity and with high activity,” Patrukovich said.
Now, according to him, there is a cycle with low activity.
“We do not yet see the prerequisites for any sharp increase in the intensity, frequency and power of magnetic storms in the next year or two. I think it will continue to be the same as it is now. Therefore, there is nothing wrong with this,” the scientist said.
The news is being updated.
