Veronica Lucchesi and Dario Mangiaracina present “Maimamma” Wednesday 3 November at 6 pm at the Luzzati Gardens.
Genoa – Songs and stories on the edge of existence. 2021, despite the many difficulties, was a bright year for the List Representative: after the participation in the Sanremo Festivalwith the song “Amare”, certified Platinum and for months at the top of the radio charts, and the release of the fourth studio album “My Mamma”, the band was engaged in a summer tour that recorded a long series of sold -out. And now Veronica Lucchesi and Dario Mangiaracina are publishing the novel “Maimamma”, published by Il Saggiatore. The two artists will present it on Wednesday at 6 pm at the Luzzati Gardens. To participate, you must book by writing to [email protected]. Admission is free.
«In March 2022 we will meet in clubs all over Italy» says the duo «this time it will be exactly as we wanted. If it were a musical it would be crazy, if it were a concert it would be the end of the world, if it were a party it would be a riot. It will be all this and much more. The puzzle is now almost complete. With the release of the novel we decided to tell the story behind our latest album, which has haunted us for years. We want to bring the reader into a world of strong colors, the same universe that engulfed us when we started writing these songs ».
“Maimamma” focuses on the story of a woman, Lavinia, who is about to give birth to a son on the threshold of the apocalypse. In the background a city, which becomes a scenario at times fantastic and dystopian: between surreal dialogues and elusive and unconventional characters, a story of friendship and love , but above all of growth and self-discovery. «It is a story that was actually born in 2009, about. I still did not know Dario, who had already started writing the story of this young woman, Lavinia, and her situation at the limit. Everything then became a way to tell our poetics and initially also to become familiar with our artistic souls », Lucchesi recalls.
The novel, like the last album, deals with themes dear to the Representative, such as those of the body, motherhood, ecology, the legacy that we will leave to our children. The link with the album “My Mamma” is clear from the title and cover of the novel, the work of Alice Beniero, which takes up the reinterpretation of Gustave Courbet’s “Origin of the world”, in the disc signed by Manuela Di Pisa. “We have always been fascinated by this parallelism between the end of the world, which is the catastrophe that is the background to Lavinia’s life, and her fear, her belief that with the birth of a son or daughterhis leading role in his life will fail »says Mangiaracina« it is a theme that we have developed over time and that ended up pushing us to write the novel ». But what has all this led to? “Retracing the history of the book, the thing that fascinates us about Lavinia is that at a certain point in her life, in a moment of crisis, she opens up to the most fortuitous and strange encounters” they conclude “a chance to listen to the world and with the people we can meet. An empathy that we try to arouse also with our songs ».
