Last June 2024 began the remodeling and modernization works of the Sales Metro station, which use 250,000 users per month. The works are going to go to the installation, which had just turned a hundred years, and incidentally they will recover the old lobby, without use since 1970, which once opened will be part of the Museum Network of the Madrid Metro. The Minister of Transportation, Jorge Rodrigo, has made a visit to the works to advance this Friday that they will be ended approximately in the first quarter of 2026, that is, within a year.
The works include replacing the coatings, facilities and technology that has become obsolete, with other more current materials and equipment.
In addition, the station will have five elevators that will allow users to move vertically, from the surface to the platforms, by means of elevators. This same line of elevator installation will be maintained on the metro network, where this improvement will also be provided with other stations such as Tetuán, Puente de Vallecas, Linear City, Carabanchel, Camp and Canillejas, which will have 15 elevators that directly connect the street with the platform, at the rate of two per station, except linear city that will have three and Carabanchel that will have four, due to its proximity to the Gómez Ulla hospital. In addition, mechanical stairs will be mounted at the Prosperity, Star and San Blas stations. These new elevators will mean an investment of 19 million euros and will begin next March.
