The Mexican Government confirmed yesterday the arrest of José Gregorio Lastra Hermida ‘El Lastra’, who was in charge of the training camp of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) at the Izaguirre Rancho de Teuchitlán, where three weeks ago they found crematoriums, human remains and clothing of people who were incinerated. The lastra was arrested a week ago in Cuajimalpa, an area on the outskirts of Mexico City. In his statement, as reported by the Ministry of Security, he confessed a macabre mode for which people took the will to the ranch, they were offered training to be employees of the cartel and those who refused were tortured and executed. The recruiter obeyed the faction of Gonzalo Mendoza Gaytán ‘El Sapo’, regional leader of the CJNG in Jalisco, Nayarit and Zacatecas. According to the authorities, both gathered a couple of weeks ago in Puerto Vallarta, on the Pacific coast, where it was agreed to end the training in Teuchitlán and the recruiter fled to Mexico City to hide. This is how an operation was activated to arrest it. First a labor ad was placed where candidates were requested to develop security tasks. They offered a salary that went from 200 to 600 euros per week, an exaggeratedly high figure because people who lend these tasks in civil life in Mexico usually win around 500 euros per month. Once people accepted, they were asked to be presented in various bus plants and from there they were transferred to the ranch to perform the “training.” When they arrived in Teuchitlán, it was already too late: they were prisoners subjected to a strict behavior regime and without connection with the outside world. Those who refused were tortured and even executed and then ended in the crematorium ovens found by the search groups of missing persons. The training lasted a month. Those who were suitable were destined for various parts of the country to meet the security tasks assigned by the cartel. According to research, Lastra is identified as the intellectual author of the kidnapping of two students from the University of Guadalajara, which took place in the capital of Jalisco in July 2024.García Harfuch explained that 39 Tiktok sites used by drug trafficking groups were eliminated to strengthen their operational forces. He also pointed out that almost 50 alleged narcorreclutadores have been arrested in the last half year. “The Attorney General’s Office will determine exactly if there are human remains in the ranch, we have not confirmed it,” he said. What was found in the first registry of the Ministry of National Defense, together with the National Guard, was the finding “of a body, in addition to being detained ten people (last September),” added the secretary.
