The most beautiful beaches in Italy? They are almost all in Sardinia. This is what emerges from analyzing the reviews left by tourists and local bathers on Google Maps.

Holidu, a vacation rental search and booking platform, processed the comments in question, putting them in order based on the number of reviews and scores indicated by users. This resulted in the ranking of the 50 best Italian beaches.

The ranking is dominated, as anticipated, by Sardinia, which boasts 39 beaches in the overall list and as many as 14 in the first 15.

In first place is Scivu beach, in the south-western part of the island, along the so-called “Costa Verde”. In second place is Is Arutas beach, 80 km further north, in the Sinis peninsula. Third in the ranking is Porto Giunco, near Cagliari, in the territory of Villasimius.

To find the first non-Sardinian seaside resort in the ranking, you have to go down to 13th place, with the Rotonda beach in Tropea, Calabria.

Puglia has four beaches in the ranking, the first of which – Porto Selvaggio, in Salento – is in 20th position. The list also includes two sites on the island of Elba, two in Liguria, one in the Marche and one in Abruzzo. Surprisingly, however, Sicily and Campania are completely absent from the ranking.
