In just 20 minutes, the fate of Rafael Louzán, current president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), has been sealed in the Supreme Court. This is the time that the defenses have taken and the prosecutor Javier Huete in exposing his arguments about the appeal presented by the Galician leader. Louzán is currently sentenced to seven years of disqualification for public office for a crime of prevarication. If the high court does not admit its appeal, it could do it throughout the day today, but in any case it will not take too long, and keep the conviction, it would be forced to resign and call elections again in the RFEF.
The case reaches the Supreme Court after having previously passed by the Criminal Court number 3 of Pontevedra and the Provincial Court. In the first instance, the former PP director was convicted of fraud and prevarication when he was president of the Pontevedra Diputación for the granting of a subsidy of 86,311 euros to carry out some works already executed almost entirely in a football field in Moraña. In 2022, the Provincial Court acquitted him of the crime of fraud by estimating part of the appeal of Louzán, but kept the prevarication.

According to the Pontevedra Hearing, Louzán is considered proven to vote in favor of the agreement to grant the subsidy to the company “knowing that it was illegal and arbitrary because it responded to an artifice to, mocking the barriers of the regulations, satisfying the claims of the Contractor, infringing the duty of transparency and not protecting the rights of the administration. ”
This morning, the view has been short and the interventions of both very short parts. In this type of views, the facts already proven are not discussed but argued about the conviction that have come to resort. In this sense, the defense of Louzán has asked the Supreme to also exempt the crime of prevarication. For this, it has been covered by the subsidies law and the public sector contracting to defend that both allowed the granting of a new subsidy.
