The preliminary cause of the incident with the plane at the Saransk airport, which rolled off the runway during landing, was the discrepancy between the actual condition of the runway and the declared parameters. The press service of Rossiya Airlines reported this to Izvestia on February 5.
“When the Superjet 100 aircraft operating flight 6165 landed in Saransk at 20:30 Moscow time, the aircraft derailed at the end of its run 5-7 m to the right. According to preliminary data received from the aircraft commander, this was due to a discrepancy between the actual condition of the runway and the declared parameters,” the message says.
It is clarified that the passengers were disembarked normally through the left door using the airport's self-propelled ramp. However, the aircraft was not damaged. The site is currently being cleared of snow for further towing of the aircraft to the apron, the airline’s press service added.
The fact that the plane rolled off the runway at Saransk airport became known earlier that day. According to preliminary data, no victims. It is known that the honored figure skating coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova and her assistants – world and European champion in pair skating Alexey Tikhonov and coach Svetlana Sokolovskaya – were on board.
