England will seek to win its first Euro Cup in the 2024 edition. The Three Lions team has had legendary squads over the years, but this is a competition that has been denied to them. On this occasion, Gareth Southgate’s team has an interesting mix between young and established. Before thinking about the final, he has to advance from the group.
The English team is in Group C of Euro 2024, which it shares with Slovenia, Denmark and Serbia. England will open their participation in the tournament against Serbia next Sunday, June 16 at the Veltins-Arena. Below we share how both squads would turn out.
Goalkeeper: Vanja Milinkovic-Savic
Defense: Uros Spajic, Nemanja Gudelj, Milos Veljkovic
Meida: Andrija Zivkovic, Milinkovic Savic, Nemanja Maksimovic, Mijat Gacinovic, Tadic
Forward: Vlahovic, Mitrovic
Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford: The competition in the English goal is tough, but it seems that Everton’s Pickford will be the one chosen to start.
Right back: Kyle Walker: The Manchester City full-back is one of the best in his position, if not the best. He joins the attack with great ease and is solid in marking it.
Central defender: John Stones: The Man City centre-back had a very good campaign and will seek to confirm it with a good performance at Euro 2024. There are high expectations of Stones.
Central defense: Marc Guéhi: Crystal Palace’s 23-year-old centre-back is one of England’s new arrivals for this competition. Guéhi is on the radar of several of the Premier’s biggest teams.
Left back: Kieran Trippier: This is one of the most fragile areas of the English team. The Newcastle United player will start.
Central midfielder: Declan Rice: The Arsenal footballer seems to be one of the fixtures in Southgate’s approach. He provides balance and control in the middle of the court.
Central midfielder. Kobbie Mainoo: The 19-year-old Englishman will have his first participation with a senior team in an important tournament. The Manchester United player aims to be a starter.
Attacking midfielder: Jude Bellingham: The Real Madrid midfielder had a great campaign and managed to lift the LaLiga and Champions League titles. He arrives as one of the leaders of this team.
Left winger: Bakayo Saka: The Arsenal winger has been harshly criticized by the English press due to recent poor results. He is completely trusted by the coach and will only miss the game if he is injured.
Right Wing: Phil Foden: The Manchester City winger had a very good campaign individually and collectively. At 24, he is expected to be one of the leaders in this tournament.
Center forward: Harry Kane: Although Bayern Munich did not have a great campaign, Kane, individually, was up to the challenge. He scored 44 goals and gave 12 assists in 44 games (Bundesliga and Champions League).
