This Wednesday, at 4:28 p.m., a tenant of the building at number 5 Calle Consejo, in Pozuelo de Alarcón, called 091. She was worried about her neighbor, she had heard a fight and then she could not contact her. She didn’t know where she was. But she did know that this Thursday that woman had the first court hearing to begin her divorce proceedings with her still husband, although she is already an ex-partner. She also knew that on January 19 she had denounced him for mistreatment and that there was a restraining order on him. When the National Police arrived, they found a knife and two bodies in the same room: the 32-year-old woman, with stab wounds to the abdomen and chest, and the 42-year-old man, also with wounds to the the abdomen and in the right hand. It has not yet been officially confirmed, but it is investigated, and points to a sexist murder and suicide.
If confirmed, it would be the first murder due to gender violence in the Community of Madrid so far this year, the fifth in Spain. Since data was officially collected, 1,130 women have been murdered and 336 minors have been orphaned. Of this last crime, there are four minors of 6, 8, 9 and 12 years old, all children of both. According to the first details, none saw what happened, but they had to be treated by the Summa 112 team of psychologists in that same house, where they had already lived alone with their mother since January, after the complaint and the restraining order.
The Homicide Group V of the Madrid National Police continues to investigate what happened, and the Government Delegation against Gender Violence reported this Thursday morning that is also collecting data about the alleged crime.
Until now, the only other detail that is known is that both were of Moroccan origin. In Spain, according to data from the Ministry of Equality, there are 764 Spanish aggressors, 351 from other countries, and in 15 crimes the country of birth is not stated. As for the murdered women, 738 were born in Spain, 374 in other countries and 18 of the murders are not recorded.
The 016 telephone number assists victims of gender violence 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The number is not recorded on the phone bill, but the call must be deleted from the device.
