The investigation is closed without defendants and the agents transfer the proceedings to the judge, who will decide whether to file the case and focus on the administrative route
The National Police has concluded the investigation into the death of the butcher Santiago López, 48 years old and a resident of the district of Cabezo de Torres, who died on September 12 in the corrals of the Condomina bullring, in Murcia, gored by a bull when he was apparently about to skin the bull.
After completing the investigations and taking statements from those responsible and workers of the bullring, the investigators of the Homicide Group of the Judicial Police closed the proceedings last week that were sent to the court, according to police sources.
The investigation concluded without any criminal charges related to the facts. Now, the case will continue through administrative channels through the Labor Inspection, which must determine if there was an employment relationship between the deceased and the butcher shop that day, and if at the time of his death he was working or not.

In this sense, and once the investigations have concluded without finding any criminal offense in what happened in the corral, which is why no one has been charged for these events, the judge will be in charge of deciding whether to finally file the case. at the criminal level and the procedure focuses on the administrative route.
File opening
The usual protocol in these cases is the opening of a file in which the Labor Inspectorate must summon the parties to present the pertinent allegations. After this process, the state labor control agency must determine if the man was working for the company when he was gored and, if so, if he was discharged, and if there were adequate security measures to carry out said work. The death occurred when one of the bulls that was going to be fought was returned to the pens, since he was limping from the hindquarters.

One of the usual butchers of the square, Santiago López, entered the stable when, apparently, the animal had already received the lace from the operators, and was going to proceed to carry out its work.

However, the animal, weighing 472 kilos, got up by surprise, giving it several gorings, one of them in the belly that was fatal.

At first it was understood that it was an occupational accident, given his status as an employee of a meat firm that usually carried out this type of crime in bullfights. However, the testimonies that followed the events of witnesses and workers ruled out that he was working.
In this sense, the head of the butcher shop in charge of the work that day told the agents that Santiago López was not discharged that day because he was not supposed to work. Likewise, other witnesses maintained that the victim went to the corrals of “her own volition.”
