Still on track
Back on track, almost as if nothing had happened. Andrea Bruno Diodato he is present on the Mugello circuit to follow the MotoGP weekend, as required by the job he loves. The last few days, however, have not been like all the others for the Italian photographer. In fact, he was the person who was injured on the occasion of the scary accident that occurred at the start of the Monaco Formula 1 GP, triggered by Kevin Magnussen and which also involved the cars of Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg. A tremendous crash he has jeopardized the safety of the photographers present at that point.
The great fear
Andrea was the most affected and suffered a cut on the leg. He jokes about it now: “My friends make fun of me because they say that there was almost more talk about me than about Ferrari’s victory“. The initial scare, however, was strong, even if more for those around him than for him himself: “They taught me that if there is a dangerous situation, you should immediately lie down on the ground. I took the last shots before impact and then I did this. Just that I stayed down longer than the others and those around me got worriedbecause they feared the worst“.
The pain, however, was strong: “At the moment I felt really bad”He admitted. “I’m fine now, I have a bit of discomfort in my leg but it’s normal – Andrea then explained to us – as I said, it went well. It was a big risk for everyone, because we were a few people”. What helped him was his hearing: “I immediately understood what was about to happen, that also saved me“.
Monaco, safe track
Despite what happened, however, Diodato is convinced that the route of the Principality is not to blameOn the contrary: “Security in Munich? It’s not a problem. Indeed, paradoxically it is one of the safest circuits in the world because there are networks and guardrails everywhere. There are guardrail posts that are planted one to five meters apart from each other. It may seem strange because it is a street circuit and it is the narrowest track there is, but in terms of safety it is perhaps the best of all. I consider myself lucky that it happened to me there and not in any other circuit. I haven’t had the opportunity to hear from the riders involved, but it’s not a problem. I saw that Perez made a video in which he hoped that all of us were okay, so that’s enough“. A great scare, which ended with a smile and the luck of being able to tell it.
