In the assembly held this Friday, the carnival people changed their mind and decided to go ahead with the celebration of the big festival of the municipality
The Aguilas Carnival clubs held an assembly this Friday, in which they changed their minds and decided to go ahead with the celebration of the municipality’s big festival. At the request of numerous carnival members, the Federation of Peñas organized this meeting to assess the situation of the Covid and the end of some restrictions. Thus, the majority of the representatives of each formation expressed the need to continue with the Carnival. After a vote, the ‘yes’ won, Federation sources explained.
Now, the president of the Federation of Peñas, José Alonso, will meet with the mayor, Mari Carmen Moreno, to convey this decision to her. But it will be the City Council that has to draw up a contingency plan for each act in order to ensure that health measures are met. During the meeting held this Friday, the carnival people showed their “total disposition” to collaborate with the Consistory in the organization and celebration of a festival declared of International Tourist Interest.
The new assembly was held just two weeks after the carnvaleros decided, in an assembly in which the first mayor participated, that they did not go ahead with the 2022 edition due to the sanitary restrictions imposed by the Covid and after the Community demand from the City Council a contingency plan for each act, something that both the local government and the supporters’ clubs did not see viable at the time.
“We will have to be very aware of the evolution of the Covid, to guarantee a safe party,” said the aforementioned Federation sources. “We are going to work responsibly so that our biggest party can go out and Águilas fill it with feathers and shine with the splendor of the rocks.”
