He Astillero City Council is undertaking improvement works in the outdoor pools of the La Cantábrica sports complex in order to modernize and optimize the facilities for the summer season, with a investment that will be around 290,000 euros financed with the remainder of previous years. The action consists of renovation of the vessels of medium and small swimming pools, adapting them to the requirements of the General Directorate of Public Health. As reported by the City Council in a press release, this intervention solves a problem “inherited for more than three terms” by adapting the filtration system of these pools to comply with current regulations.
Added to the work is incorporation of a renovated treatment plant and replacement of the current filtration and sanitation systems with a salt chlorination system, similar to that of the large poolwhich ensures higher quality in water disinfection. The beach area of the large pool will also be improved, which was renovated five years ago, and a perimeter enclosure will be installed in the small pool and approved slides. The purification equipment will be located in the existing technical room, “optimizing space and maintaining an orderly visual environment in the facilities.”
