The 16-year-old Spanish boy arrested on Wednesday night as the alleged perpetrator of the murder of Isidro de las Heras Blasco, the 62-year-old taxi driver stabbed on Tuesday in the Emergency car park of the Príncipe de Asturias hospital in Alcalá de Henares, he was betrayed by his mother. The woman had seen the image of her son on social networks as a suspect and spoke with him; At the same time, the agents had given signals that a person was going to be arrested imminently and in the end a police device was established that culminated in the arrest of the minor at eleven at night, Sources of the case tell ABC.
This newspaper has learned that the accused had previous reports and was known to the national police of the city of Complutense due to altercations in which he had been immersed. His criminal record, in any case, is officially anonymous, as he is a minor. The Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office has taken charge of him. If he is ultimately convicted of murder, he faces a maximum of eight years in a juvenile facility. If he were also sentenced for robbery with violence and intimidation, the measure would increase for another year.
And this point is the one on which there is less certainty. The sources consulted by ABC spoke not of an attempted robbery, but of a disagreement over payment for the ride that the taxi driver had just made with the detainee. Isidro’s colleagues, however, emphasized that the savage attack was carried out without an argument.
The teenager lived in La Corrala, which is how a building in the Espartales Sur neighborhood is known. On Tuesday, around six in the afternoon, he boarded Isidro’s Eurotaxi, a Volkswagen Caddy, at the stop at number 43 Avenida de los Reyes Católicos, in a central area of Alcalá. He asked the driver to take him first to the El Camino del Sueño urbanization, very close to his house, where “he had met a man.” So they did it.
Once there, the person he claimed he had met did not appear, so he then asked to continue to the Príncipe de Asturias hospital. It was upon arriving at the emergency parking lot where, unexpectedly, he stabbed him four or five times in the abdomen and chest area, with special impact on the liver. It was 7:45 p.m. The entire scene was recorded by the taxi’s own interior security camera. Hence, a capture of the black and white image of the minor inside the car went viral and his mother saw it on social networks on Wednesday afternoon.
While the suspect fled the crime scene, Isidro got out of the taxi as best he could, asking for help. Some doctors who were at the door assisted him and he was admitted to the ICU, where he died the next morning. The minor hid in his family’s house, until his prompt arrest by the Homicide Group VI of the Madrid Judicial Police Brigade.
Now, he will be subjected, among other tests, to a psychological evaluation. One of the extremes that is investigated is whether, as it seems, he has problems with drugs. What is clear is that he does not belong to any youth gang, police sources insist. But also that he is a problematic individual with a history of other violent acts, although logically not of this caliber.
Today, at one in the afternoon, taxi drivers from Alcalá and other municipalities in the region gathered in the city’s Plaza de Cervantes, in rejection of what happened. In November 2019, the same municipality suffered the murder of another colleague, who had his throat cut.
